Helping Memphis girls grow into confident leaders

Through self-care and mentorship, we show every girl she is worthy, capable, and loved.

“Where confidence begins in the chair.”

Our Mission

We help girls who face barriers in Memphis grow into strong, confident leaders. We use the everyday act of self-care, starting in the hair salon chair, to teach them that they are worthy, capable, and loved.

What We Do

Beauty In Me Academy

A 12-month program. Twice a month, girls get self-care in the chair plus mentoring on confidence, goals, and leadership — ending with a December graduation.

Back-to-School Beauty Day

A free community event where selected girls get a shampoo and style for school, with food, music, and a backpack drive for all.

Purpose

The salon chair is a place girls already feel safe. While a girl is in the chair, a caring mentor sits beside her, talking about confidence, goals, and getting through hard days. She learns that taking care of herself is a form of self-respect. Many of these girls don't have a steady adult in their corner. We become that corner, and help each girl see her own worth.

Meet the Team

Founder

Chelse Brown created Beauty In Me Foundation because she saw how much young girls need a safe space to grow, heal, and discover who they truly are. She wanted to build something that reminds every girl her beauty starts from within.

Treasurer

Christy Coran keeps our foundation steady and our money honest. She believes every girl deserves a real chance, and she mentors the girls at our sessions too.

Be in a girl's corner

For $71 a month, you can sponsor a girl for a full year — and become part of this team.

Secretary

Tarsha Jeffries keeps our records straight and our team organized. She joined because she believes in lifting girls up, and she mentors them at our sessions as well.
